Your First Visit
In many ways, your first visit to our office will be unlike any previous dental visit. As you arrive you will be warmly greeted by one of our friendly receptionists. Sitting in one of our comfortable leather chairs or sofa, you will realize that our office has none of the smells or sounds you have experienced at previous dental offices. Soft lighting, large, expansive hallways and a reception area with warm, inviting woodwork are all designed to place you at ease. Earlier phone conversations with our office will review bringing in x-rays and treatment records from your referring or previous dentist if available, as well as any insurance information.

Initial paper work completed, you will be seated in one of our spacious treatment rooms and introduced to Dr. Kaminski, Dental Anesthesiologist,. The first part of your meeting will consist of Dr. Kaminski, listening to your reasons for seeking care at our office. Do you have troubles getting numb? Have you had bad experiences by other dentists? Do you gag if anything goes in the back of your mouth? Have you been scared by another dentist or told you are a terrible patient? Dr. Kaminski wants to know why you are here so he can better help you. No one is born with the fear of the dentist. It takes a bad experience to put you there.
If needed, we can take a single x-ray that shows all of your teeth without having to put anything in your mouth. No gagging, no uncomfortable films or sensors in your mouth. Dr. Kaminski will then perform a thorough visual oral examination, but without the painful pricks or probes you have experienced in the past. Remember that any uncomfortable or painful parts can be handled while you are asleep. No need for you to force yourself through it.
You will then discuss your treatment options with Dr. Kaminski and decide what will be best for you. After completing our anesthesia forms, we can then help you schedule your return to great oral health. You will decide if you want to be truly asleep (not hear any noises or feel any pain) or if you think that conscious sedation (relaxed but awake) best meets your needs. As our patients remark, the most difficult thing to do is to walk through our front door.
Insurance
Dental insurance is a contract between you and your insurance company. We are NOT a party to this contract. We will bill your insurance company as a courtesy to you. Although we may estimate your co-pay based on written or verbal information provided by your Insurance company, they make the final determination of eligibility after treatment is provided. This determination may or may not be the same as their initial estimate even though they provided the information. We provide treatment based on medical necessity, not on your insurance benefits. You agree to pay any portion of the charges not covered by insurance. This includes all co-pays and deductibles. Please let us know if your policy has any special clauses for pre-existing conditions or limitations on treatment.
ABC World News at Dr. Kaminski's Office
Visit our Media Center for a behind the scenes look at Mr. Brian Ross, Chief Investigative reporter for ABC World News, and his visit to Dr. Kaminski's office. The ABC News crew was at our office for over 6 hours. They transformed our reception area for the shoot to accommodate the cases of equipment needed for the interview. Their attention to detail was amazing-down to the color and size of the textbooks to appear in Mr. Ross' background. Initially scheduled for a 30 minute interview, cameras had to be reloaded as the interview went to 90 minutes. "I was impressed that Mr. Ross conducted the entire interview without any notes-he was very well prepared" said Dr. Kaminski. "Because of the heat generated by the extensive lighting, we had to keep the office at 60 degrees just to keep it comfortable for the film shoot."
ABC also filmed Dr. Kaminski sedating a patient and demonstrating appropriate rescue techniques. Well known for his efforts to improve patient safety through better training requirements, Dr. Kaminski felt honored that ABC News had sought his expertise on this topic. "People don't realize that a dentist only has to attend a 2 1/2 day class at a hotel watching a PowerPoint Presentation to sedate a patient here in Michigan" states Dr. Kaminski. Dr. Kaminski has been featured on Inside Edition with Debra Norville and many local television and newspaper appearances.
